Mission Statement
The Canadian Institute of Workplace Harassment and Violence
To provide access, guidance, and funding for Canadian employees experiencing financial distress due to workplace psychological violence and harassment. We are a not-for-profit organization (currently applying for charity status) committed to helping eligible workers access treatment, legal resources, and the support they need to address ongoing conflict, harm, and systemic barriers.
Purpose
No one should feel psychologically unsafe at work. Yet, many employees exposed to harassment, bullying, discrimination, or other forms of workplace psychological violence suffer significant harm. This often results in a range of injuries, including persistent fatigue, anxiety, loss of psychological safety, and, in severe cases, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).
Workers facing these challenges are frequently desperate for guidance on how to navigate complex systems such as insurance claims, human rights complaints, union processes, and occupational health and safety (OHS) mechanisms. Unfortunately, these systems can be difficult to access and understand—especially for those already struggling with psychological injury and financial hardship.
Many injured workers are unsure of where to turn and lack the resources to access the health care and legal services they need to protect their rights and recover.
Our funding supports harmed workers to:
