Supporting targets and bystanders impacted by workplace bullying and harassment.

All employees deserve a psychologically safe workplace.

Every workplace should be striving to ensure no employee is injured while at work. Western University’s 2022 National Survey on Harassment and Violence at Work in Canada found that, of 4,878 respondents reflecting on their experiences at work over the previous two years, 71.4% had experienced at least one form of harassment or violence in the workplace, 43.9% had experienced sexual harassment and violence while at work, and 26.5% had experienced at least one form of work-related online harassment.

Dear Visitor! Thank you for your interest and support!

Founded in 2022, The Canadian Institute of Workplace Harassment and Violence (CIWHV) is a not for profit organization focused on making it possible for psychologically and/or physically and financially injured employees to receive some financial support for treatment and/or legal options. Often these injured employees are financially vulnerable due to their numerous attempts to defend themselves while navigating complex workplace systems, systems that often have gaps in processes and lack information or trauma-informed training specific to workplace harassment and violence.

CIWHV helps organizations connect with their employees in a meaningful way to both ensure their workplace is psychologically safe, and to offer help to employees who have been targets of workplace bullying and harassment by providing the basic supports to which all Canadians have a right:

  • Current and accurate information about workplace psychological safety through clear and accessible corporate policy,
  • Help navigating the support systems beyond the workplace, and
  • Financial support to access any counselling and legal support that they need.

Call for Support

We are excited to announce that on October 20th 2023 we will be holding our first fundraising event in support of this vital work. This fundraiser will take place during the 12th annual Workplace Bullying Awareness Week, which has become a worldwide event promoting workplace psychological safety awareness. Funds raised will support injured workers’ access to treatment and legal options.

We know that you understand the critical importance of psychological safety in the workplace and will do everything you can to support employees who have been targets of work-related harassment and violence by establishing a robust workplace safety program that will address any emerging issues quickly and effectively to ensure engagement and retention.

We are reaching out to you to support this not for profit organization through formal sponsorship or by purchasing tickets to the October 20th. Please see the attached announcement for full event details.

Our fundraising gives us the opportunity to help adults in the workplace who have been impacted by bullying or harassment access the resources they need and deserve, including:

  • The creation of a Digital Tool Kit for employees who are targets of workplace bullying or harassment. This tool kit will help employees navigate complex systems and become aware of their rights, options, and next steps.
  • The establishment of financial grants, donations, gifts, or reduced fees, to help more workers with substantiated psychological or physical injuries and losses related to workplace harassment and bullying at work, access legal and mental health supports.
  • Continue building awareness in Canada and worldwide.
  • Continue to focus on resolving gaps within workplace systems and building a worldwide network of qualified support resources.

For more information on how your organization can get involved as a strategic partner, please contact us.

Thank you for your consideration in sponsoring your workplace and employees through this critical work.
